Online Dating - your first meeting - tips for your dream date!
- Be confident. She wouldn’t have agreed to meet you if she wasn’t interested.
Smile and make eye contact as much as possible without looking silly.
Dating in the UK shouldn't be marked with typical british reserve.
- Don’t go overboard on flowers or other romantic gestures…yet. On
your first date you need to appear keen but not premeditated. So, save
the twelve red roses until you have chatted a bit and got to know each
other face to face.
- Go somewhere that you both feel comfortable. Let her take the lead
in suggesting somewhere if possible…but if she doesn’t have anywhere
in mind then find a place where both of you could wait if necessary…a
wine bar or café rather than a night club or busy pub.
- Pay her compliments, within reason. Make sure you find something
to make a nice comment about – where you can see she has made a special
effort. But, don’t overdo it, or you will look too keen!
- Flirt! The occasional naughty joke will work a treat – even if it
is a cliché!
- Make sure you dress the part. That doesn’t mean buying a new suit
or wearing a tie. But, your clothes should be squeakily clean - if you
are meeting straight after work, take a fresh shirt into the office
with you and change just before you go out. A little aftershave or cologne
will show that you care about yourself.
- Clean nails, clean teeth a decent haircut and clean shoes all matter
to most women. Even if your style is ultra casual – make the effort
and she will appreciate it
- Find shared interests – and then listen! Let her tell you about her
views on things – we don’t believe there is a fixed ratio of talk to
listen…but try to get a balanced conversation!
- Make sure she knows a bit about your life, hobbies and interests…just
enough to encourage her to want to see you again. If you do want to
see her again, don’t wait till the last minute to ask.
- See if you can talk to her about another date before you get up from
wherever you have spent the evening. And, make sure it is clear who
is going to contact who.
